I saw a remarkably weird billboard on my way to work today. They apparently want to promote a new shopping mall, but the imagery does quite the opposite of making me want to consume.
Take a look at this image. What do you see?

Inside the shopping bag, life is good. It’s all matching colours, there are flowers and light. A perfect, but treacherous surface.
Looking closer, you see there’s compact darkness outside. The expressionless couple just sits there, stuck. His empty gaze seems to wish for something. Maybe for her to answer when he speaks. She’s staring coldly into the horizon.
This is what I see.
But no, this isn’t Banksy visiting the Swedish capital for an anti-consumerism action. This is a shopping mall that wants to attract visitors.
They tried so hard, but is seems happiness can’t be bought this spring either.
