After Squarepusher I’ll never predict the future from electronic music

Tonight, I’ll be part of a panel on Swedish national radio where we will discuss how pop music will sound 2019 instead of summarizing 2009. Preparing for that, I remembered a track that completely blew my mind ten years ago but which has aged horribly. Which is surprising, given the quality of it. Boards of Canada: “Go diagonal!”

A night almost ten years ago, I was on the last subway home when they took it out of service. Among hords of angry night commuters, I stumbled out into the suburb of Mälarhöjden in Stockholm. I’d had enough bad lager for me not to care about winter temperatures and besides, I only lived one station away. I decided I’d walk home.
